The God Gap

I didn't realize this, but apparently there's a name for the big gap that exists between Evangelicals being Republican or Democrat... it's called the "God Gap".

MSNBC did an extremely interesting story on the migration of evangelicals from the Republican party to the Democratic party. Personally, I consider myself apolitical... I don't subscribe to any certain political party. Do I have opinions? You bet. Do I drag Jesus into my political views and set Him up as a supporter of my favorite candidate or party? Not a chance in this lifetime. Jesus shouldn't be anybody's political puppet.

Perry Noble wrote an interesting list about Christians and voting that I resonate with. Should followers of Jesus vote? Yessiirrrr! But they should do some research, give it some prayer, and then vote and deal with the results. Frankly, I'm very disappointed in some "Christians" that I've heard crying woes about Democratic control of the House and Senate... give me a break! Shut up and love people as Jesus did. Jesus didn't call us to be Republicans or Democrats or Third Party supporters... He called us to die to ourselves and follow Him.

As far as the "God Gap" goes, I think Evangelicals are finally figuring out that just because you stamp the name "Jesus" on something, doesn't make it holy, pure, and wise. :)

There's some food for thought.
